BoVegas Review

BoVegas Casino was launched in 2017 and has a Curacao license.

The online casino world is a highly competitive one, and that has become increasingly true over recent years. As a result, it is to be expected that any site which has been released at any point over the last couple of years would be aware that there are some unwritten rules that you just follow, and some things you must avoid, in order to have any chance of success. 

One of those rules is “don’t put Vegas in the title of your site”, it’s been done so many times that it just feels instantly derivative at this point.  Unfortunately, this is not the only one of these rules that BoVegas, which launched back in 2017, failed to follow. 

The fact that BoVegas is a name that sounds very similar to that of popular gambling site Bovada is another issue, although it feels like this may have been intentional to try and get a few more eyes towards this new site. If it is true, it’s laziness, and that is not difficult to believe in the slightest because being lazy is very much a theme of the BoVegas site, which seems to have put the absolute minimum amount of effort put into it at every possible point along the path of its creation. 

Design and theme

As soon as you see the word ‘Vegas’ in the name of an online casino, there are some immediate expectations as to how the site is going to look, and BoVegas keenly ticks every one of them off the list. First, you have the gold outline to as much as it is possible to put gold on, then there’s the Vegas skyline at night in the background, it’s so predictable it’s actually difficult to look at, mainly because one does not know whether to laugh or cry at how insanely outdated this site feels from the very second you arrive at it. 

The red and gold colour scheme that takes up most of the site in front of the black background is horrific, it is clearly supposed to look elegant and sophisticated, but it misses the mark by some distance. 

There is one nice touch to the design here, when you scroll down the page there is a vintage, three-reeled slot machine, pull the lever and the reels will spin to reveal three games that are available to play at the site.  This is a unique addition, and a pleasing one, until you realise that the reason for it is that there are barely any games available here and this is an attempt to hide that fact (as proven by the fact that games visible on the middle line are also visible on the line above.)

Games

This would normally be the point in a review where we list all the software developers providing the games to this site. Unfortunately, it’s a short list here, as games come from Real Time Gaming, and that’s it. This isn’t to insult RTG in any way, they have some nice games in their portfolio, but when the most competitive of online casinos are offering thousands of titles from several of the most popular and prolific developers in the world, having a small handful from a provider who is, in all honesty, not at the top of many favourite lists, simply isn’t good enough. 

There’s slots, table and card games, video poker, bingo, and keno among the games on offer, but not enough of any of them for this site to be anything even vaguely close to competitive against the more established sites.
