Another day, another Nektan site.  It’s getting difficult to get excited, or indeed find anything new to say about most sites that come from this prolific network, with online casino after online casino arriving on the scene and looking pretty much exactly the same as those which came before it. However, Seven Cherries, on the surface at least, appears like it may be able to break the monotony and actually bring something different.

As the name may suggest, Seven Cherries is designed to be a celebration of all things retro, playing on the nostalgic affection that so many players have for the three-reeled fruit machines of old, the games that were the first step in the revolution that led to the huge and ever-growing online casino industry that we all see today.

It's been a while since a Nektan site had what appeared to be a good idea, or indeed just an idea that felt like any effort at all had been put into it, but that’s what you get here.

So, will Nektan use this idea well, and create a genuinely original site? Or will they waste the opportunity and release yet another carbon copy of every other site on the network?

Design and theme

It doesn’t take much looking at Seven Cherries to realise that it is likely to fall into the latter of these categories, because as good as the idea is, the execution is the kind of dreadful that only Nektan appear to be capable of, or at least only they can get away with.

The logo is nice enough, if incredibly predictable, utilising the two vintage fruit machine symbols that the name is based on, but that’s about where the joy stops here. The confetti floating in the background looks like a child drew it, and not a child with any measure of artistic talent or imagination.At this point, visiting a Nektan casino has almost become sad, or perhaps it has more become infuriating, because everything looks exactly the same. Identical navigational tools are used, which means, despite the navigation being excellent here, it still feels dated.

Seven Cherries is just another failed effort at originality by a network that just doesn’t seem to care anymore.

Games

If you have played at any other Nektan sites, and to be fair, with the sheer number there are at this point, you probably have at some point, if only by accident, then you will be aware of the usual range of games that are on offer.

There isn’t much new at Seven Cherries, but the selection is a little different, with titles coming from Blueprint Gaming, ELK Studios, Felt, IGT, Microgaming, Nektan, NetEnt, NextGen Gaming, NYX Gaming, Realistic Games, SG Gaming, Thunderkick, and Williams Interactive.

It's nice to see a few different names on this list compared to other sites, but when one is getting excited due to a minimal change in a list of software providers, it’s probably more of a testament to how little effort Nektan normally put in.

There are slots, and there are table and card games, in fact, there is an abundance of both, which is great, as long as you haven’t been around Nektan sites before and aren’t very used to these options, even with the small number of additions.

Nektan sites just aren’t cutting it anymore, and despite a clever (comparatively at least) concept, Seven Cherries is just another reason why.
