Slot Variance

The term Slot Variance refers to the risks associated with a game of slots. The term is commonly used in the world of online casinos and those who work in the industry where a game of slots is considered either a low variance, medium variance or high variance game. Different games come with a different degree of variance attached to them.

Odds Of Winning

Broadly speaking, Slot Variance is the official term used to describe the chance a player has of winning a game of slots. In a high variance game your odds of winning might be pretty low but it you do win you are likely to collect a higher sum of prize money. However, this can prove a little problematic, as unless you’re extremely lucky and win a high variance game pretty quickly, the amount of money you spend trying to win the game quickly eat into any winnings you may receive.

By the same token, a low variance game such as Scarface might be easier for players to win but they won’t usually take home a high amount of winnings.

Given the pros and cons of the different slot variances, there are some who prefer games with a low variance, which gives them a greater chance of winning and there are others who prefer a high variance game, which, if they do manage to win, can expect a more lucrative amount of money.

Games Based On Luck

Though it is important to remember that all slot games are purely based on luck and whether you win or not it entirely random. By continuing playing slots in order to win will almost inevitably mean you lose more and even if you do win a fairly significant amount, the money you win may have all be previously spent on former games in desperation to win!
